🛡️ Rank-Decay Self-Healing Engine

Run an on-demand audit against your real Google Search Console data to find articles that have lost ranking, then regenerate and republish them in place.

Every article IndexPine publishes eventually faces the same threat: competitors update their content, Google adjusts its understanding of search intent, and older articles gradually slip down the rankings. The Rank-Decay Self-Healing Engine gives you an on-demand way to check for that and act on it — from the Self-Healing tab in your dashboard, click "Run Self-Healing Audit" whenever you want a check.

On-demand, not a background monitor
This is triggered by you, not a service constantly watching your rankings in the background. Run it whenever you want a fresh check — after a competitor launches new content, on a regular weekly habit, or anytime you're curious.

How decay is detected

When you run an audit, IndexPine pulls two real windows of Search Analytics data for your site from Google Search Console — a recent ~7-day window and an earlier ~4-week window — and compares each page's average position between them. A page is flagged as decayed if its position dropped by 4 or more places, or if it fell off page 1 entirely (from position 10 or better down to 11+). Pages with very little prior impression volume are ignored, since a position swing on a handful of impressions isn't a reliable signal.

What happens when a decayed article is found

  1. The decayed Search Console URL is matched back to the IndexPine article that published it.
  2. A fresh version of the article is generated for the same target keyword — new statistics, structure, and framing — using the same anti-slop pipeline as a brand-new article.
  3. The refreshed content is republished to the exact same URL on your CMS (same slug, in place — not a new page), via a real update call to your CMS's API.
  4. The audit result and the position drop it detected are recorded in your Healing History.
We can't confirm the recovery yet
Refreshing and republishing a decaying article is not the same as proving it recovered — Google needs time (typically days) to re-crawl and re-rank the updated page. Healing History records these as "Republished — awaiting re-crawl," not "Recovered." Run another audit later to see whether the position actually improved.

What can't be auto-repaired

An article can only be refreshed in place if IndexPine has a record of publishing it (matched by its live URL) and it still shows as Published. Articles published before this feature existed, or ones IndexPine can't match to a Search Console URL, show up as decayed-but-unrepairable in the audit results — republish them once manually to enable auto-repair for future audits.

Requires GSC connection

The Self-Healing Engine requires Google Search Console to be connected with offline access (not just the property picker) — see the Google Search Console integration page for the exact connection flow. Without it, there is no real ranking data to check against.
