How IndexPine chooses the topics it writes about — and how to steer, approve, or block them by hand.
The keyword pipeline is the editorial calendar for your site. IndexPine populates it automatically, but you always have full control over what gets approved, blocked, or prioritised.
How keywords are discovered automatically
IndexPine populates your keyword list from one of two sources, depending on whether Google Search Console is connected:
- GSC connected — your real top search queries from Search Console, ranked by real impression volume. This is actual measured data, not an estimate.
- GSC not connected — a starting set of niche-relevant keyword suggestions to seed the pipeline until you connect GSC or add your own.
Adding keywords manually
Go to the Keywords section of your dashboard and click "Add keyword". Enter the exact keyword phrase. IndexPine will immediately fetch search volume, keyword difficulty, and a list of top-ranking competing pages so you can evaluate it before approving it.
Importing keywords from a CSV
If you have done your own keyword research in Ahrefs, Semrush, or Google Keyword Planner, export a CSV and upload it in the Keywords section. IndexPine accepts a CSV with at minimum one column named "keyword". Optional columns "volume" and "difficulty" will be imported if present.
Keyword states
- Suggested — automatically discovered, waiting for your approval (if manual approval is on).
- Approved — in the queue, will be written next time the autopilot runs.
- Generating — an article for this keyword is currently being written.
- Published — an article exists for this keyword and is live.
- Blocked — you have manually blocked this keyword. IndexPine will never write about it.
- Paused — you have paused this keyword. It stays in the pipeline but is skipped until you un-pause it.
Keyword priority
IndexPine orders the approved keyword queue by a priority score that combines: estimated monthly search volume, keyword difficulty (lower is better), your current ranking position (striking distance gets a bonus), and how recently a competitor published on the topic (fresher competitor content = higher priority for you).
You can override the queue order by dragging keywords up or down, or by clicking the "Prioritise" button on any keyword to move it to the top of the queue.
